Into 2022 and now into 2023, price hikes have created enormous uncertainty for both businesses and consumers. Price hikes in basic necessities and food have become an everyday phenomenon, upending several consumption habits that were entrenched in the past. The war in Ukraine and the energy crisis could not help affecting the prices of wholemeal and oat products, since the increases that occurred in the previous period and are continuing were quite large.
However, the trend of healthy eating is quite strong, so the products produced by the industries do not seem to have lost their momentum. In fact, there are not a few new codes that appear on the market every day, expanding even more the choices of consumers. Oatmeal biscuits, toast bread and wholemeal snacks are nowadays preferred by a large portion of mini market customers, while there are not a few who completely reject white flour and its derivatives.
