Damage to fruit bearing in Pella and Imathia

“The recent frost has significantly affected the fruit bearing, which, in some varieties, has decreased even 100%”, according to the president of the agricultural association of farmers of Veroia, Tasos Chalkidis, who pointed out in his statements that “we have blossoms without fruit”.

“The frost we had 15 days ago, with snowfall and temperatures that reached -16 degrees, caused huge damage to the trees,” he noted, adding: “The damage to fruit set reaches 100% in apricot trees and 70% and 80% in some early peach varieties. We see our trees in blossom and there is no carpidium in the blossoms.”
