Katopodis Delimaris family opened the first butcher shop in 1960. We should explain that Delimaris is a nickname of the family followed in every social and professional activities. Perfectly normal, considering that at that time almost all the families were known by the nickname and not their surname. In this way, each family stood out because such Katopodis surname is widely distributed throughout Lefkada.
In 1964, Andreas Katopodis, Ntelimaris decided to extend the work of the butchery and to produce salami and sausage. He gave his name “Salami from Lefkada Delimaris” and made his shop known with this unique name, since there were other butchers called Katopodis.
Very quickly, salami Delimaris became known for its quality, flavor and taste. The demand for it continued to grow, the salami became known outside of Lefkada and the butchery has evolved into craft production of salami and sausage.
In 1982 the little industry grew up and moved to a better place with higher standards. The demands of the market, the advanced technology and management succession of the company by the founder’s sons led in 2002 to build a private, modern sausage processing plant with an area 2000 m². This could increase production without sacrificing quality.
