The first name of the village Pano Merabelos seems to be Petra (stone) according to byzantine history sources.
It could not have any other name, because of the soil that is full of rocks, while there is too little vegetation that holds the little amount of the soil in the cavities.
We have chosen this historical name to call our hard but romantic effort. The almonds were the main agricultural product of the region until the second world war. Today our waterless region is abandoned and the almonds fall from the trees and remain unexploited. Our wish is to help the forgotten local almond to be used more.
